happy hour: i do

so, mavens!  it's finally here - WEDDING WEEKEND!!!  as you read this, i'm on my way into philly to enjoy a lovely day of final prep and pampering before our rehearsal & rehearsal dinner tonight.

tomorrow, you'll find me and my girls at a quaint french cafe for breakfast, readying ourselves (and enjoying lunch...and champagne) in my sister's suite before heading to our 4pm ceremony where i'll become a mrs.

 following the ceremony, our guests will enjoy a fabulous cocktail hour - replete with a live jazz and a spectacular philadelphia skyline view - while craig and i snap some photos.

the reception will begin at 6pm and continue to 10pm (and we've got a few surprises up our sleeves for our guests to enjoy).

and after the reception, guests have a quick 1/2 hour to change before our after-party kicks-off at a great local tavern.

needless to say, craig and i (and our families) are super excited.  and, in true celebratory form, i think it's only appropriate to crack open a bottle of bubbly!

cranberry fizz cocktail

you know that i love champagne cocktails.  they are my all time favorite.  any time i see a champagne cocktail on a drink menu i have to try it.  there's just something about its bubbly goodness that makes any drink more festive and more delicious (in my humble opinion).

i love champagne cocktails all year round, but the lightness of champagne with its subtle fizz is beautifully suited for summer.  here's a little drink i came up with - hope you like it!

cranberry fizz cocktail

1 oz vodka
1 oz cranberry
4 oz champagne
garnish with lemon twist

the great thing about this simple recipe is that you can multiply it for a crowd to create a lovely champagne punch!

happy hour: vodka, club & cranberry

first of all...happy birthday mom!  i'm looking forward to our lunch together today : )

just in time for your weekend bar hopping, i wanted to share one of my go-to drink orders.  vodka & club with lime or vodka, club & cranberry (with lime of course) is a simple, refreshing drink that any bartender can make.  i would recommend that you request at least a smirnoff-quality vodka since there's not much to mask it in this drink.



and if you want to drink (this) at home:

1 hi-ball glass 1/2 full of ice
1 shot vodka
top with club soda
(splash of cranberry = optional)
squeeze of fresh lime

smile and sip : )
